The powder room may be small, but it’s the perfect place to make a big statement! Because this room sees nearly every guest, it’s a unique opportunity to bring in playful touches, bold colors, and decor that really reflects who you are.
Why the Powder Room?
Unlike larger spaces where cohesive design themes might reign, the powder room is your chance to have some fun. It’s a contained area where you can experiment without overcommitting, letting your personality shine through bold colors, unique textures, and eye-catching decor. Think of it as your personal design playground!
My Own Powder Room Project
For my powder room, I chose to embrace the room’s darkness by color-drenching it in a rich, dark hue. The warm wood vanity complements the color scheme beautifully, adding a cozy touch. Being a hopeless collector and lover of all things quirky and lovely, I turned the walls into a gallery, displaying collected artworks and animal head sculptures that bring a bit of whimsy to the space. It’s a reflection of my personality and a reminder that our interiors should make us smile.
Design Inspiration
Here’s a mood board I’ve put together to help you create this dramatic look, complete with links to some of my favorite products. This particular design showcases rich, dark paneled walls that bring drama and depth to the space, paired with jewel-like brass plumbing fixtures that add a touch of elegance. A striking and unconventional black toilet becomes an unexpected statement piece—perfect for a rarely used space like a powder bath, where you can afford to take a risk. A unique mirror and sculptural lighting tie the look together, creating a room that feels as polished as it is personal.
